According to Hindu mythology, there are 51 Shaktipeethas, which are considered to be the most sacred pilgrimage sites for devotees of Goddess Shakti. These Shaktipeethas are believed to be the places where the body parts or ornaments of the Goddess Sati fell on earth after her self-immolation in response to the insults of her father, Daksha Prajapati.
